In the year 2000 during a walkingtour through Umbria, the green heart of Italy, we decided to try to fulfil a dream we had had for years: to own a house in Italy. In the first instance it was for our vacations, but also for later, when we would have more time to spend longer periods in a sunny and healthy climate.

For us it was love at first sight. A region of splendid landscapes, rolling hills, fields filled with flowers varied by olive- and vineyards, forests, small rivers, centuries old cities and villages still unspoiled; and people: friendly, helpful and very hospitable.

We saw many abandoned houses at beautiful locations with stunning views, waiting to be transformed to their former glory and .......... all of a sudden we found the place we were looking for: La Villa.



The house, dating back to the 16th century, had been abandoned for 35 years and was in bad shape. Parts of the roof, and the floors, had collapsed. Manure was still in the stables and the area around the house was like a jungle. The house had to be restored completely and works started in November 2001.

Personal circumstances caused us to rethink our lives. We decided to move to our beloved Italy, to take part in the restoration work, and try to settle ourselves in Umbria.


In spring 2003 La Villa was transformed into a real villa with apartments where our guests can share with us in enjoying the good life.
